This is a picture of "Calle Antonio" from my room. My address is on Calle Emperatriz, but I like to say I live on Antonio because my view is of it, and Calle Antonio is very fun. This street has a lot of tappas shops and also has many bars. While it is a great place to live because there are many things to do, it is also very loud most of the time on my street! It is loudest from 2 AM to 7 AM, because this is when all of the college students are out partying. It is very quiet from 2-6 pm because most people are off of the streets! Even on Sundays it is loud, and if it isn't people yelling it is cars honking! Although it is loud, with earplugs I am able to sleep and I love the location of my house and my abuela very much.
This is a picture of plaza Menorca. I have not eaten here much, but I pass this plaza every day on my way to school. The first couple days I was too scared to try and find a short route to school, so I used the main roads and the walk was 25 minutes. One day I was adventurous and used this plaza as a short cut, and it only took me 8 minutes to get to school, so this is clearly a better option then using the main roads.
This is a picture of my street sign! I love this sign because it is kind of like an American street sign. One of my biggest complaints about Spain is that their street signs are hidden on buildings, if there even is a sign. When I saw this sign, I was overjoyed one time because I finally knew where I was, and therefore this sign is very important to me!
This is a picture of the backside of my building, Calle Rhonda. I used this street to catch the bus to the bus station this weekend so I could go to Madrid. Also, there are many tappa stores on this road that I go to with some of my classmates. The red little road in the picture is a bike path, which I didn't know at the beginning and I made a few bikers very angry when I was standing in their way.
This is a picture of Parque Federico Garcia Lorca. It is probably a 5 minute walk from my building, and it has a lot of beautiful trees and flowers. It also has a running path, which I don't use, and probably never will, but it is always an option if I somehow have motivation to go run.
This is about 5 minutes from my building, but away from the school so normally I am not over here. I saw a big burger king sign, and it looked pretty good so I thought it was picture worthy. Barrett's host brother says that Burger King delivers here, but I havn't tried that yet because it seems that by the time I would be able to talk to the person on the phone and tell them my address and my order, I would have been able to walk to the burger king and back with food. Not because the burger king is close, but because I am not very good at ordering, and without the pictures of the food I would be pretty hopeless.
This is Bar Reventaero, which is on Calle Rhonda. I watched the Real Madrid game against Juventus here with 5 of my classmates. I was the only person who stayed for the whole game in our group, but there were many Spanish males with Real Madrid jerseys on in the bar with me. When they lost, a few of them were crying! I enjoy the tappas here a lot, especially the calamari.
This is Hotel Ana Maria, which is next to the Bar above. It is a pretty tall building, and it is right across the street from my house on Calle Rhonda.
This is the fried chicken/burger shack my apartment is above. When I first found out my homestay, I was given a picture of my address and this store came up. I have eaten here once and it is okay, but it's not tappas so I don't like to go here. It always smells really good when I come home though!
