So far, everything is going great! The first day I go to Granada, I was very tired and mostly slept throughout the day. After I got rid of jetlag that first day, however, everything since has been incredible. The city is beautiful, I love my host senora, and the people here are fantastic. So far, I do not think I have forgotten anything, and I wish I packed  a little lighter!

The first major difference I discovered when I arrived here is that everything seems to be smaller in Spain. The streets are mostly one way, and they are much smaller than the streets in Ann Arbor. Also, the drivers are much more aggressive and I need to think very carefully when I cross the streets! Also, the bathrooms, especially in restaurants, are the size of closets in the United States. It is not a bad aspect of the city, but it is defiantly different than the United States.

Also, my first impression of the people in Granada is that they are very welcoming and the city is very safe. Many people here speak English, but when I have tried to speak in Spanish with them they have been patient and have worked with me. I think this is awesome, because in the United States I do not hear different languages spoken, and if someone was having trouble talking to me I think I would immediately grab and iPad and use Google Translate!

Lastly, I would say my favorite part of this city is the Tapas. I think it is a great way for us to hang out and explore the city, and many places are very cheap. It is a little frustrating that the whole city is closed from 2-5, which I think would be the best time for tapas, but it is also nice to take a nap during this time!

All in all, I am extremely happy with how everything is going so far, and I am really looking forward to these next five weeks!!!

  1. :) Yes, everything is smaller here... because everything is huge in the States. Even food portions are smaller though tastier?
