Every place we went was breathtakingly beautiful but it hurts my head to think about all of the planning, money and labor that went into creating places like the Reales Alcazares and the Cathedral in Sevilla hundreds of years ago.
Both of these photos are from the Christian part of the Mezquita in Cordoba. This is one of the few places where visitors are permitted to go into the choir. Here, every scene of the bible is carved out of mahogany.
Even the bus ride offered hermosa vistas!
In the Cathedral in Sevilla, there is a mirror on the ground that magnifies the designs on the ceiling to help you have a closer look which is necessary because the ceilings are so tall (about 138 feet).
Hundreds of horses and carriages line the streets in Sevilla for tourists to ride in. While they were all very beautiful, it was sad to see them tied up, being forced to stand in the sun for hours. I wonder where this custom originates and how much longer it will last in the city because we didn't see very many carriges being used.
These next two pictures were taken at the Reales Alcazares in Sevilla. While the architecture inside is similar to the Alhambra, the outside gardens were more expansive and diverse. In my opinion, both of these places are too elaborate and too ostentatious. Even though they look like what I imagine paradise to be, it's crazy to think about how much money was spent on them and how most of the people surrounding these palaces were living very differently.
