This is the "Portal" to my apartment. It is located directly next to a watch store, which I never realized until I took this picture today! It is across the street from a pharmacy and an ice cream store. I need to use a key to access this door at night, but during the day there is a door lady who opens it for me.
This is the Lobby in my apartment building. It is called floor 0, whereas in America it would be the first floor. This makes more sense to call it floor 0, and I wish in America that was also the case.
This is the door lady- everyday I see her, smile, and try to talk with her. She is a sweetheart, loves talking to me, and asks me lots of questions about New York. I think her name is Izzy, but I may be wrong because she talks very fast and has a very strong accent. I had to take a "candid" because she was talking to someone and I didn't want to interrupt for a blog picture, or I would have taken a nice selfie with her.
This is the elevator. It is by far worse than American elevators. First, it is tiny, and if you move just a little the whole thing shakes. Second, it is only able to remember one floor, so if two people take it, you have to figure out who is on a lower floor, and they need to hit the number first. This isn't the end of the world, but it took me like 5 days to figure this out and people would get annoyed when I would hit my button after they hit theirs, and it created unnecessary stress. Lastly, one of the elveators has been under repair for 5 days now, so there is only one working elevator.
This is the door to my apartment, apartment E on floor 7!
This is the dining room where I eat lunch and dinner with my host senora.
This is the kitchen table where I eat breakfast. Every morning my senora gives me a doughnut for the road, toast and tuna, coffee, orange juice, and an apple.
This is the kitchen- I normally don't go over here because my senora takes care of all the food and dishes!
This is my bedroom- I study at the desk, and spend most of my time in this room. I make my bed pretty well every morning, but everyday my abuela comes in and makes my bed perfectly and cleans it. I have an amazing view of the mountains and Calle Antonio from my windows.
This is the living room, where my abuela usually hangs out. the tv is on most of the time, especially "master chef", the news, and Survivor.
In general, I love my home stay and have no issues! I live with my abuela only, so lots of the time I have the place to myself which I enjoy a lot. While it is not as big as my home back in the states, I think I have plenty of room, especially for Europe! The food my abuela makes is wonderful, and everynight she makes me french fries which I enjoy a lot. Also, she is very helpful with my life here, for example she helped me buy my bus tickets when I went to Madrid, and she helped me buy my vacation to Morocco. On the first weekend, she gave me a map and circled places where I could go to have "divertido".
I am still not sure if my abuela works or is retired. I have asked her a couple times, and both times I did not understand what she said so I do not want to have to ask again. But, I know she goes to the University of Granada a couple days a week, and if she's not there many days she goes to one of her houses in the "campus" to clean it up because she rents them. She was very flustered a couple days ago when here pool had "muchas problemas", and I had to say "lo siento" a lot.
