Mi casa a Granada

As we first look at this abode, you notice that it is an apartment due the the fact there is a large door with bars. In my house at home, we don't stay in an apartment, so we don't have a huge door to go into to get into our house. The house here has 3 bedrooms (mines, my parents here, and the children) and a kitchen. Also they have a living room, 2 bathrooms (mines, and the parents) and they have a small room for washing purposes. The rooms in my house are much larger than they are here, but I like the way my homestay family placed everything here!

As you can see, there are many children books my room along with teddy bears! That leads me to my homestay brothers and sisters.  I have an 8 year old sister named Julia, and a 4 year old brother named Adrian. They're very energetic, and well spirited but they love to talk to me! Sometimes they can be slightly annoying when I wake up, or when they wake me up, but I know they are kids so I don't really react as I would if they were older.

The kitchen is one of the places that the family meets up to eat.  During some of the days, we have our dinner in the living room. My mom here always joke with me saying that I need to wash the dishes when I'm done for everyone. Also, this is the time where I have most conversation with the whole family. During lunch, my mother asks about my day and class, and the kids add their comments within the conversation. For the dinner, the father is usually here and we talk about anything from life in the U.S, to my career goals.

Also in the living room, both my mom and dad go into the living room, along with my brother and sister. They are in there at different times though. I am usually in the living room on Friday afternoon, when neither of my parents are here until later on until the evening, and I eat and watch TV.  Other times, I'm in the room to take photos because of the lighting haha! The kids are usually in the room in the morning before they go to class, and before lunch and dinner. The parents are usually in there much later on in the night, right before they go to sleep.  They are usually watching tv or reading the newspaper.

My homestay mom has her own salon, and she cuts hair. I learned during a conversation we had at dinner, and she said that she cuts hair! I needed a haircut also, and she told me that she wanted to do it for me, and I was a bit worried because my spanish isn't that well to tell her what I specifically wanted but she did an excellent job! My homestay father is from Cuba, and he works somewhere haha. I didn't really know what he does specifically, but I know his job require him to be up very early, and he's usually back around 4 or 5 everyday.  When I asked, my spanish wasn't that well, but it's something in the auto mechanic field. His spanish is much easier to understand because its not as fast as the mother, who is from Spain. One day a week, they make it a tradition to get churros con chocolate! It's very nice. My family here is one I wouldn't change anything for.
